Who?
What friend or family member are you always glad to hear from?
“Well, I always like to hear from one of our kids,” Libby starts.
“Me, too,” I add.
“And of course, the grandkids.”
A few of them have cell phones and a call or text from them is magic.
Libby then mentions several friends she enjoys hearing from. One is “so joyful, non-judgmental, and optimistic.” Another she respects so much that she feels privileged to be trusted with her cares and challenges.
Frankly, I’m not sure who Libby doesn’t enjoy hearing from. She is so encouraging herself and loves the contact. Occasionally my phone will be near her and she will see that I have a text. She will read it to me and ask if I want her to reply. I can’t let that happen. It will have so many heart emojis that it won’t even come close to representing me.
I was not surprised by Libby’s answers but I did learn something about her. Different relationships provide different meaning and joy to her life.
And talking about it inspires us to be the kind of people others are glad to hear from.
